The Marlin Hotel

Name: The Marlin Hotel
Designer: O’Donnell O’Neill Design Associates
Location: Dublin

Tucked away in the heart of the most desirable part of Dublin you will find the brand new 300-bed hotel – The Marlin.

The distinctive triangular prow shape building sports 9 floors and an impressive open plan reception area. On arrival guests will be greeted by a wooden tree sculpture with our bespoke circular seating fixed around the base. There are a number of quirky fixtures placed around the reception area including a Vespa scooter, retro phone booth and horsebox coffee station.

Award winning interior creatives O’Donnell O’Neill Design Architects were given a brief to make the open plan ground floor area fun, engaging and beautiful and they have done exactly that. The space needed to work as a home away from home for guests so OODA created intimate pocket spaces where guests can relax, listen to music or read a book. There is also a formal meeting suite and a variety of bookable spaces for more informal meetings.

BPR Contract Furniture were briefed to design a variety of bespoke seating and loose furniture for the downstairs area of the hotel, as well as supplying headboards and footstools in the upstairs bedrooms. The entire hotel is full of insta-worthy moments but perhaps one of the most striking areas is the lounge area which features a live Olive tree, promoting sustainable environmental development. BPR Contract Furniture manufactured a bespoke piece of seating measuring over 20m and fitted around the Olive tree. The seating consists of individual cushion back pads and super-soft seat cushion wrapped in two layers of 4cm wadding for comfort and upholstered in a plush red velvet. This unique design gives the comfort of home while being made to contract specification.

BPR Contract Furniture also manufactured bespoke circular seating fitted around a wooden tree sculpture in the reception area, hexagonal seating upholstered in striking teal velvet with vertical deep ribbed detail and traditional deep buttoned leather seating. Further bespoke window seating, buffet seating, benches and tables were also manufactured by BPR and supplied to various areas around the hotel.

The Marlin Hotel has been a fantastic project to be involved with, especially because it is a centerpiece in the heart of Dublin. It has been a landmark project for BPR Contract Furniture as it shows off so many different elements of what we can do.
